Cap-XX
SuperCapacitors are able to hold an incredible amount of charge due to
their huge capacitance ratings - commonly used are 0.2F and above. The
very low ESR ensures that these devices are able to deliver the huge 2A
pulses required for GSM / GPRS Operation. Class 10 modules double this
requirement and it becomes critical to ensure that the power supply is
rock steady - too much of a voltage drop will cause phase and frequency
errors in the RF sections of the GSM/GPRS module.
Supercapacitors
are also essential in extending low temperature performance - battery
ESR increases dramatically at low temperatures, restricting the current
a battery can deliver. A supercapacitor can be used in this situation
to assist a battery to provide the low temperature extension and to remove
the "strain" on the battery, thus achieving a longer battery
life and low temperature operation. Supercapacitors are produced from
safe and environmentally friendly materials, thus do not encroach on new
EU directives.

Rubycon Supercapacitors
Rubycon
have produce a range of capacitors with capacitances to 100 Farads. These
new double layer capacitors have been designed to meet the growing need
for energy conservation, storage and reduced wastage. These supercapacitors
can be used to slowly accumulate vast amounts of energy and store it for
when it is required, taking the strain off the battery and in many cases
improving battery performance as a result.
